Screen Printing
Screen printing is a process where ink is pushed through a mesh screen and laid on top of a substrate (product being printed on), and then cured at high temperatures to it’s finished product. Most of us are familiar with screen printing because we likely have a drawer full of them at home. This is your traditional garment printing method.
When should I use screen printing? If you know the exact number of garments you need, and will not need small quantities of extra after the order, then screen printing is the right product for you. Screen printing requires an order minimum of 12 pcs and 2 week tournaround time. Rush is available at extra charge if production schedule permits.
Heat Transfers
Screen printed heat transfers work much the same as regular screen printing, except instead of screen printing directly to the substrate, the ink is pushed to special transfer paper. The ink is only partially cured, and special adhesives are added. The transfer is then heat applied to the substrate, which finishes the cure and adheres the ink to the substrate.
When should I use screen printed heat transfers? If you think you may need extra shirts after your intitial order, then this may be the best product for you. Extra transfers can be ordered and stored until you need them, then the shirts can be made as needed. Additionally, transfers are great for any event where the actual number and sizing of shirts may not be known until the event. Shirts can be made on short notice with this method. Transfers are also great for live events, where you want the shirt made when the customer orders it at the event.
Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)
HTV is used for very small and simple orders. HTV is cut from special vinyl made for shirts, and then heat applied.
When should I use HTV? This one is simple, when the quantity is under 10 and the design is simple, then HTV is your product.
